To find out more about the Annual KTMA State Rendezvous is this year just check in on Talking Bear or click on the
link below. If you've been to a Rendezvous or two then you probably know Talking Bear. When dark sets in you will
hear him pick'n and sing'n somewhere around a campfire. He does a great job of entertaining at rendezvous and an
even better job keeping up with Kansas area events. We would like to thank him for his great effort and for letting us
use his list of events. In the end we are all after the same thing, getting you out to a Rendezvous.
The KTMA Annual State Rendezvous is intended to be the nicest rendezvous in the state, complete with all of the
events that are expected at a regional size rendezvous. The rendezvous rotates between the six districts of the state and
there is a new Booshway each year. Each years Booshway will make sure there are plenty of rifle, pistol, and
knife-n-hawk events. They may also include other events such as trade gun matches, shot gun matches, primitive
archery, camp games, kids games, and various seminars. At the end of the Rendezvous an overall State Champion is
recognized in juniors, women's, and men's divisions.
The State Rendezvous has a separate modern camp, primitive camp, and a period correct primitive camp. All camps in
the primitive camp shall make every effort to cover modern items and camps in the period correct primitive camp will
maintain primitive camp and dress at all times. This will provide an area for everyone to fit in at there level of
authenticity and give beginners an opportunity to see what an all primitive camp is like. Period dress is encouraged but
never required to camp or to participate at the State Renedzvous.
The State Rendezvous is the heart of the KTMA organization. This is where the organization conducts its business and
it is here that all of the members can join in the council meeting to decide on the organizations officers, directors, and
next years Booshway.
The camp fee of $25 for the State Rendezvous is also the membership fee for KTMA for the entire year. So not only do
you get to come and gather with great friends, make lasting memories, and enjoy a weekend back in time, but you get a
membership to a great organization that is committed to promoting mountain man rendezvous and preserving the
values that our past can teach us for generations after ours.
